New to Backpacking? Ease into Adventure with Two Fully-Supported Arizona Trips

New to Backpacking? Ease into Adventure with Two Fully-Supported Arizona Trips

October 31, 2017

Make the leap from hiking to backpacking with the Bold Betties. We’ve got two weekend trips that will build your confidence in the outdoors while you enjoy a mood-boosting, sunny desert getaway during the deep freeze of Winter.

Whether you’re an absolute novice or a seasoned outdoors woman, you’ll find something to love about our short but sweet Grand Canyon and Superstition Wilderness guided trips, led by our partners in Arizona.

Experience the Grand Canyon from the Bottom Up

If you’re just gazing at the Grand Canyon from the rim like everyone else, you’re missing out.

Our Grand Canyon adventure from January 26 – 28, 2018 starts in Scottsdale, where you will begin your descent to the canyon floor with an intimate group of 4-8 women.

We’ll make camp that evening in permit-only backcountry in order to avoid the crowds. The next day, we’ll hike the canyon, exploring waterways, learning about the canyon’s geology and wildlife, and discovering hidden wonders that only a lucky few ever get to see. On the third day, we’ll ascend to the rim and celebrate our accomplishment with a well-deserved lunch in town. Plan on hiking 6 – 9 miles a day.

Cost is $885 and includes all meals, gear, and transfers to and from the host hotel.

Savor the Blooming Desert of the Wild West

For a gentler introduction to backpacking, join us for the Superstition Wilderness trip, March 23-24, 2018. This adventure takes place in the remote backcountry of the Sonoran Desert in the Superstition Mountain Range, just an hour outside Phoenix.

No six-mile ascents during this weekend! You’ll be hiking mostly flatland, covering 5 – 6 miles a day in the world’s most ecologically diverse desert. Teeming with wildlife, flora and fauna, this scenic landscape is populated with many native medicinal and edible plants used by tribes such as the Apaches who settled in this region and considered the land sacred.

This is your chance to explore the craggy, cactus-studded desert landscape during the picturesque bloom of early spring with a supportive group of 8 – 12 women. Find inspiration as you watch the sleeping desert come alive!

Cost is $745 and includes all meals, gear and transfers to and from the host hotel.

Leave the Gear and Meals to Us

Both trips are fully supported, meaning that you just need to bring a daypack, clothes, and hiking boots. We will provide you with a backpack, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and all meals in the wilderness.

Commit to adventure in 2018! Register for one or both of our Arizona getaways today! You will thank yourself for doing it!
