We're heading to Asheville, NC this fall for an epic long weekend of camaraderie, hiking, and even a little guided mountain biking thrown in for good measure! Mid-October is perfect leaf peeping season and we want to take full advantage! This adventure is the perfect chance to meet Bold Betties from all over the US! We'll stay in a house together in the general Asheville area so that we can have our own facilities and so we can get to know each other!
Thursday, October 10
Arrive in Asheville! If you've driven, we'll make sure you have directions to the house! If you're flying in, we'll coordinate a pick up time for you from the airport!
That night we'll enjoy our first family-style dinner as we settle in for some fun!
Friday, October 11
After waking up and enjoying a simple breakfast together, we'll pack our lunches and head out to meet our mountain biking guides! We hope to have female guides to lead us through the beautiful autumn leaves in Pisgah National Forest. We can stay in one group for a half-day ride that is beginner friendly, or we can split into two groups, one for beginners and one for intermediates!
After our bike ride and picnic lunch, we'll head back to our house to get cleaned up and get ready for a dinner in town (not included in price).
Saturday, October 12
We'll have a yummy breakfast and prep our lunches before we pile in our vehicles and drive to the trailhead for Looking Glass Rock, south of Asheville. This hike is a challenging, uphill hike but the payoff is HUGE. After hiking approximately 3 miles and gaining over 1600 ft of elevation we will be rewarded with 360 degree views from a granite bald. From here, you can see the Blueridge parkway and for miles in most directions on a clear day.
This hike is incredible but is definitely a challenge. We ALWAYS hike together, no exceptions! We'll take lots of breaks and we'll encourage each other to make it to the top!
After our hike and provided we have time, we will stop at Carl Sandburg's Home which is part of the National Park Service. This park is beautiful and provides a great glimpse into the life of one of America's most beloved poets as well as spectacular scenery. We'll arrive to our house for a final family style dinner as we share our favorite memories and pictures.
