Day 1 / Date: 09 Nov 2019 (Saturday) Bangkok
Meals included:

Sa-wat dee! Welcome to Thailand. Thailand's bustling capital, Bangkok is famous for its tuk tuks, khlong boats and street vendors serving up delicious Thai food. Bangkok has so much to offer those with time to explore - why not take a riverboat to Chinatown and explore the crowded streets, uncover the magnificent Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, wander down the tourist mecca of Khao San Road, or indulge in some Thai massage? Meet your fellow travelers at a welcome meeting tonight and then enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant.

Day 2 / Date: 10 Nov 2019 (Sunday) Bangkok – Chiang Mai
Meals included:

Begin the day with a river cruise down the Chao Phraya River to explore the famous ‘khlongs’ (canals). Life along these canals seems a world away from the chaotic streets of the capital. Pay a visit to the magnificent Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The sprawling royal complex houses numerous ornate structures that highlight the grand architectural traditions of Thailand.

After that explore Wat Po, another temple that is integral to the Buddhist religion in Thailand. It’s home to the infamous golden reclining Buddha and is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. This is one of the most popular things to do in Bangkok, and with our local guide to take you through the temples, you’ll hear all the secret stories and local knowledge about the place.

After that you will be transferred to Bangkok Airport for your flight to Chiang Mai

Day 3 / Date: 11 Nov 2019 (Monday) Chiang Mai
Meals included:

After breakfast, head off to explore the famous temple complex of Doi Suthep. A short drive along a scenic and winding mountain road brings you to an impressive 300-step Naga-guarded stairway. The rewards justify the ascent to the top, with one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand on display, not to mention the fantastic panoramic views of the city.

You will transfer back to your hotel to relax before starting a private yoga class by a teacher from Freedom Yoga Chiang Mai, which is dedicated to creating good vibes, a relaxed atmosphere and a strong community of people who are interested in exploring happiness, healthiness and personal growth.

In the evening, be ready to celebrate Loy Krathong & Lantern Festival (dates are still TBD for this festival but are expected to be included during your adventure!)

Day 4 / Date: 12 Nov 2019 (Tuesday) Chiang Mai

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning, you will learn about the main ingredients used in Thai cuisine, how they are used and stored and what alternatives you can substitute if you can't get them at home. You are provided with a comprehensive book of recipes and ingredient details. For lunch, sit down and feast on the delicious results of your hard work. Cap off your meal with a tasting of seasonal Thai fruit.

After enjoying the dishes you've just cooked, be ready to join the cycling tour in the streets of Chiang Mai. We journey south, following the Ping River downstream. A visit to a former leper colony, now a rehabilitation center, gives some insight into the activities of the missionaries in days gone by. Cycling over small country roads you will discover the real rural Thailand. We cycle past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as we meander around the villages on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. We explore the temple ruins of Wiang Kum Kam, the former capital of Lanna, before cycling back to Chiang Mai.

This evening you’ll enjoy a traditional Khantohk dinner. The term Khantohk comes from many small dishes (khan) served on a small or low table (tohk) that evolved from communal meals with honored guests.

Day 5 / Date: 13 Nov 2019 (Wednesday) Chiang Mai - H’Mong Lodge
Meals included:
Breakfast & Dinner

Board a minivan for the drive north to the H'mong Hilltribe Lodge, set in picturesque hilly countryside. Set in a peaceful valley of a scenic mountain range and surrounded by stunning natural landscapes of jungle with misty mountain views, the H'mong lodge offers a unique and tranquil experience. It's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of busy tourist spots. The rooms are simple and rustic, fitting perfectly with the natural environment. Be sure to pack a warm sweater as the weather will be mild and cool year-round due to the lofty mountain locale. The Hmong are an ethnic minority in Thailand who originated in the south of China. Today they comprise the second largest hilltribe group in Thailand. After a barbeque dinner in the lodge's open-air dining area, the day concludes with a cultural performance by the Hmong people. You'll gain an insight into the traditional lifestyle of the tribe, with a wedding ceremony enactment, shamanic ritual and makong (cotton ball) throwing.

Day 6 / Date: 14 Nov 2019 (Thursday) Hmong Lodge – Lampang - Sukhothai Meals included: Breakfast

Depart the hilltribe village this morning and head on to Lampang. Lampang, also known locally as 'mueang rot ma' meaning Horse Carriage City, is considered by some Thais as the last paradise in Thailand. Here you’ll pay a visit to the Friends of the Asian Elephant Center, the first elephant hospital in the world established to care for sick and abused elephants. They aim to protect and conserve the welfare of elephants both domesticated and wild and preserve the animals' natural habitat and lifestyle. You’ll learn more about this important initiative and become acquainted with some of its resident patients. After spending time with the elephants, bid farewell to your new pachyderm pals and head to Sukhothai.

The first ancient capital of Siam, Sukhothai was established in the 13th century. Located on a fertile plain, Sukhothai means the 'Dawn of Happiness' and is now famous for its World Heritage-listed historic park, which celebrates the Golden Age of Thai civilization.

Upon arrival at the park, head out to the historical ruins of Old Sukhothai, set amid beautiful lakes and gardens. The religious art and architecture of the Sukhothai era are considered to be the most classic of Thai styles, and the Sukhothai Historical Park contains the remains of 21 historic sites, with awe-inspiring Buddha images and four large ponds often filled with stunning lotus flowers in full bloom.

Day 7 / Date: 15 Nov 2019 (Friday) Sukhothai - Kanchanaburi

In the morning, set off to visit to Erawan National Park where you can explore the famous seven- level waterfall or simply swim and relax. The falls are considered the most beautiful in the whole country, with glacial blue waters rushing through the forest into bamboo-shaded pools perfect

for a refreshing dip. If you want to make the climb you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view over the jungle below.

Next learn about Hellfire Pass memorial, which was built to honor the Allied POWs and Asian conscripts who died while constructing some of the most difficult stretches of the Thai-Burma Death Railway – the eponymous pass, cut through rock 18 meters deep, got its name from the hellish fires used to light the work at night.

Board the train at Nam Tok Train Station - the end of the original death railway station during the second world war which was constructed by the allied POWs. Take a ride along the historic tracks alongside the Kwai Noi River, passing through Tham Krasae station which is one of the most beautiful panoramic scenes of the Kwai Noi river from the curves of the wooden railway line close to the mountainside.
