A note to Bold Betties from Paul Rosolie:
For over ten years I have brought people from all over the world into the rainforest. It is undeniably an extreme environment. But it is also paradise. Virtually every person that comes to the jungle leaves changed in a positive ways. There is something in the elemental simplicity of wilderness that forces us to explore new parts of ourselves, as well as truly rely on others. It is a learning experience. When people are exploring a river at night, climbing to the canopy, or dancing in a butterfly vortex (yes that is a thing in the Amazon!). I feel privileged to watch the transformation. We’ll all have the unique opportunity to explore the greatest diversity of life on earth. And through our guiding team’s experience, I promise that there is nowhere on earth, and no one around, who can give you such an intimate and incredible immersion into the Amazon. I am certain you will have a safe and amazing trip that you will remember the rest of your life.
Bold Betties is partnering with award winning wildlife filmmaker, author, conservationist and naturalist, Paul Rosolie, on exploring the Amazon Rainforest. Paul’s commitment towards conservation of “the Wildest Place on Earth” and his mission to blend adventure and conservation intersects beautifully with Bold Betties purpose of helping women push boundaries, defy limits, depart from comfort zones and build strength through sisterhood. The Amazon is one of the most intense and testing places on earth and this curated adventure is designed to push limits in one of the most untouched ecosystems on the planet. The 9-day jungle adventure with Paul Rosolie and his wife Gowri Varanashi who is also a conservationist and a biodiversity expert will be taking place in September and will have a focus on Biodiversity, Sustainability as well as local culinary experiences.

Travel to the Las Piedras Biodiversity Station
Up the trans-Amazon highway and over a long road – we will leave civilization and head deep into the Amazon. This day we will need to work together to get all of our team members and supplies up the highway, over the road, and into the boat – and then from the boat up to the station. It’s going to be a long day, but by evening we will arrive at the biological station, where cool drinks, hammocks, and excitement await.

Accommodations and Setting
We will be staying at the Las Piedras Biodiversity Station, located in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. This area is one of the most bio-diverse places on earth, containing some of the most stunning flora and fauna in the world. There are 90 species of mammals, ~600 species of bird, and ~150 species of reptile and amphibian that seek refuge in the seemingly limitless expanses of towering rainforest trees.
Isolated deep in the lowland rainforests of Peru, the Las Piedras Biodiversity Station is a comfortable and safe place at which we base our operations. Surrounded by 7,000 hectares of primary rainforest reserve, you will have the opportunity to be truly immersed in the rainforest. Because of the remote location and pristine forest, wildlife is extremely abundant. Often the morning is filled with the calls of parrots, toucans, and howler monkeys. You can expect to have regular sightings of macaws, caiman, peccaries, capybara, parrots, snakes, frogs, toucans, and eight different species of monkey. Other more difficult to spot wildlife includes jaguars, ocelots, Brazilian tapirs, giant armadillos, giant anteaters, and deer. However, careful planning and soft quiet footsteps can reveal many of these species.
The Las Piedras Biodiversity Station is fully equipped with running water, toilets, and showers. We have comfortable beds with mosquito nets and hammocks to relax in. On the main deck you can find a library of field guides and biodiversity surveys. We have a fully staffed kitchen and employ local chefs who cook authentic local cuisine that will help power your mind and body. We can confidently say that your presence at the station will not only place you in one of the most bio-diverse regions on the planet but it will also make you an important part of it’s security for generations to come.
